Rifle & Bow Hunting

Rifle Hunting

At Osombahe-Nord we believe in the ethical, proper style of hunting and fair chase. Hunters will be able to successfully hunt most game with the following suggested caliber rifles; 270, 308, 30-06, 375, 7x57, 8x68 and 300WM. It is safe and legal to bring rifles into Namibia but there are rifles available for hire at Osombahe-Nord (.300WM, 270SM, 30-06). The cost of hiring a rifle is U$30 per day and ammunition is available at cost price.

You will get the opportunity to sight in your rifle prior to the Safari. This is always recommended after a weapon has been transported for long distances. Prior to your departure from home be sure to practice with your chosen firearms so you are at ease with their features and operation. We frequently use shooting sticks when stalking game, it will be wise to practice shooting from sticks before you get here.

Bow Hunting

Both concessions are particularly well suited for bow hunting, due to the large number of natural open water holes with custom shelters/blinds for the keen bow hunter. We suggest that bow hunters book for a minimum of 10 hunting days during the dry season June-October.
